Joint Statement on China-U.S. Economic and Trade Consultations in Stockholm
The Government of the People's Republic of China ("China") and the Government of the United States of America ("United States"),
Recalling the Joint Statement from the China-U.S. Economic and Trade Consultations in Geneva ("Geneva Joint Statement") reached on May 12, 2025;
andConsidering the discussions held in London on June 9-10, 2025, and in Stockholm on July 28-29, 2025,
Reaffirming the commitments outlined in the Geneva Joint Statement, both sides agree to implement the following measures by August 12, 2025:
1. The United States will continue to adjust the implementation of the tariffs on Chinese goods (including those from the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions) outlined in Executive Order No. 14257 of April 2, 2025. Starting on August 12, 2025, the U.S. will temporarily suspend the 24% tariff for 90 days, while retaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods as specified in that Executive Order.
2. China will continue to: (i) Adjust the implementation of the 24% tariff on U.S. goods as stipulated in the Tax Commission Notice No. 4 of 2025. Starting from August 12, 2025, China will suspend the 24% tariff for another 90 days, while maintaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods; and (ii) in accordance with the Geneva Joint Statement, take or maintain necessary actions to suspend or rescind non-tariff retaliatory measures against the United States.
This Joint Statement reflects the outcomes of the China-U.S. Economic and Trade Consultations held in Stockholm. These consultations were conducted within the established framework of the mechanism set forth in the Geneva Joint Statement.
